ESSER III Survey Update - Winter 2022/2023

ESSER III Survey Update - Winter 2022/2023
Posted on 12/22/2022

As part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, Waukegan Community Unit School District 60 has received grant funds administered through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund.  The American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) Fund was authorized to provide states with funding to support the nation's schools in safely reopening and sustaining safe operations of schools while meeting the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of students resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In late July 2021, we released our Safe Return to School Continuity Plan, describing how WPS60 will provide the safe return to in-person instruction and continuity of services for all schools. The plan was built based on feedback we received on our initial ESSER community surveys. The current plan can be viewed online in English and Spanish.

In January 2022 and Summer 2022, we asked that stakeholders assist us by providing additional input and feedback on the plan. We understood that the ever-changing nature of the ongoing pandemic could shift priorities, and we wanted to ensure that our community had the opportunity to share its thoughts on the existing plan, which was intended to be a living document that outlined efforts to support all students.

As required by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, we are again seeking input from our community stakeholders and we are requesting that they provide their input by completing a brief survey that we will review and, as appropriate, make revisions to the existing School Continuity Plan. All parents, district employees, students and community members are urged to complete an "updated" survey to help the district determine what changes, if any, need to be made to its "Safe Return to School and Continuity Plan" which utilizes ESSER funds. Stakeholders are again reminded that school districts are limited to what they can use ESSER funds to support.
