We’d like to remind our families there is a new opportunity for District 60 families enrolling their child in preschool. Students enrolling in preschool for the 2024/2025 school year will have the option to enter the lottery for our new Two-way Dual Language program. Interested families are encouraged to attend our informational meeting held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on April 18 at Oakdale Elementary School. ​

Waukegan Public School’s Family and Community Engagement Department will host its districtwide Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration on May 3. The theme of this year’s event is “Innovation” and it will celebrate the innovations and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). The event will be held on Friday, May 3 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Jack Benny Middle School, 1401 Montesano Avenue.

Upcoming State Assessment for Grades 3-8

Waukegan Public Schools will administer the annual state-mandated Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) to all students in grades 3-8 upon our return from Spring Break. The IAR consists of two sections of English Language Arts and three sections of Mathematics. It is administered over 3-5 days. Assessment results will be shared with families in the fall.

Spring Break Meal Distribution - March 25

Waukegan Public Schools will host a free meal distribution event on Monday, March 25 from at the Waukegan High School-Brookside Campus. Meals will be available between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Families can pick up food by driving up to door 29, which is located at the back of the Brookside Campus. Families will be asked to stay in their cars, and students are not required to be present to pick up meals.
